CrossFit is a practice for health. It was created by searching for the optimal human operating manual for health throughout ones life. It follows a methodology of nutrition and exercise. The nutrition is designed for human performance and longevity. The exercise adopts movements we where physiologically designed to do and is infitifily scalable for any age and fitness level, to cater for a 3 year old to a 90 year old and every age inbetween. CrossFit is forging elite fitness, CrossFit keeps you out of a nursing home, CrossFit is hedge against sickness, CrossFit is Health.
Eat meat, vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and NO sugar.
It is as simple as that, if you follow that sentence in every meal you eat you will be on track for health. This is the nutrition prescription and is scalable. Meat can be any protein. Vegetables, can be any vegetable there are hundreds of them. Nuts and seeds in their whole form. A little bit of fruit, an apple a day. Reduce your starchy carbs, because the old nutrition pyramid has us eating way to many. NO SUGAR, because added sugars are the root course of every chronic disease and sickness.
We do constantly varied movements and time duration of work, completed with intensity that is relative to the ones physical and mental capabilities.
Exercise with varied movements, meaning something different every day. Do short fast hard workouts (5mins) do long slower endurance style workouts (30mins). Train with intensity, give your max effort every workout. Keep times and scores, record them and every day try go faster or do more. As you get fitter you will go faster, as your mind gets comfortable being uncomfortable you will work harder. At some points of your life the Intensity will be high and other points it will be low but intensity is key, work hard.
Follow these two protocols and you have CrossFit. It can look confusing and at times we make it more complicated than it really is, but really it is simple.
