TIP #1 NO SUGAR

My number one tip, number one because it is the most important and most effective, is to have no added sugar in your diet. This is the simplest and most effective way to loose weight, but it definitely is the hardest. Sugar is addictive and that is why there is so much added into our food, it makes us want more and buy more. Read the label, be aware of what you are eating. Some foods are obvious, soft drink, cordial, fruit juice, chocolate, lollies, deserts, honey,and adding sugar to your coffee are the obvious areas to cut out. But some added sugar is not so obvious and maybe disguised as a health food or a “LIGHT” option. Fat free yogurt, Light mayonnaise, tomato sauce, muesli bars, Light and healthy breakfast cereal all are high in added sugar.

Get off the sugar, cut back, go cold turkey, do what ever it takes but get off the sugar.

TIP #2 EAT A BALANCED DIET

A “balanced diet” pops up a lot now a days, but what does it mean or what do I mean by a balanced diet? A balanced diet is eating a balanced quantity of food across our three macro-nutrients; Protein, Carbohydrates and Fats. Marco-Nutrients are our bodies three fuel sources, one is just as important as the other and when balanced properly you will see optimum performance. ALL of your meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) should contain Protein (meats, legumes, tofu) Carbohydrates (vegetables and fruits) and Fats (Avocado, nuts, seeds and animal products).

Make an effort to balance all your meals with the three Macro-Nutrients.

TIP #3 WEIGHT LOSS STARTS AT THE SUPER MARKET

If you are anything like me, when there is chocolate in the house it will not be there for long. I can not resist a Tim Tam or a blueberry muffin or pancakes or pie, hek!!!! I can’t resist any sweets. So the key to my diet is, I don’t buy them. Simple. When you are at the supermarket, your shopping should be done around the outsides of the building. You start at Fruits, Veg, Nuts and seeds then on to Meats, around the back until you get to Dairy and then straight to check out. Do not even look down aisle 6 with the chocolates the soft drinks and shiny packaging, this is out of bounds!!!! and you must never go there.

TIP #4 EAT BREAKFAST

Do you know why people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day???? because it is! By eating breakfast you kick start you metabolism, fuel your body and mind for what is to come. Now that you are going to start eating the most important meal of the day, make sure it fits into tips 1 and 2. A balanced breakfast of Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fats with NO SUGAR!!!!!!!

TIP #5 DON’T BEAT YOURSELF UP

We are never going to be perfect, you will always slip up, always give in to temptation and some times you have just earned it. But the most important thing is that at the next meal you jump straight back on track.
